The key why this 694 faster than 815 is BIOS!!!
Abit put all the option on this BIOS, 4 way interleave, DRAM timing, delay dram read latch and many things, usually mobo maker hide this option and made it disable, so there is no way to tweak the mobo except you hack the BIOS.
Sisoft Sandra score for memory:
I use celeron 850 for this and test it with 100 MHz CAS2 and 133 MHz CAS 3 (my windows crash if I force to CAS 2) but I'm sure you get bettter score if you get CAS 2 memory.
100 MHz score :
Mem CPU : 275
Mem FPU : 324
133 MHz score :
Mem CPU : 308
Mem FPU : 382
With my another mobo which is MSI 815E Pro I could only manage 294 CPU and 329 FPU
For 3D Mark 2000 the differences is BIG!!!
with MSI 815E Pro I get 4771 and with this Abit VH6 I get 4954
If you guys still don't believe this mobo just won award in 694 mobo round up for CHIP mag Indonesia (subsidiary of CHIP Germany). This mobo beat 12 mobo including Gigabyte, Asus, Soyo, MSI, AOpen, Iwill, also they compare it with Abit SL6 (815).
Personally I don't like Abit board, 'cos it's not quite stable in my opinion but finally I have to agree with Anand for saying their last model prove to be stable like BX133, KT7 and including this VH6 (fortunately I work for IT company and I tried all that mobo) but their slot 1 version of 694 (VT6X4) still SUCKS!!!
Back then I tried Gigabyte 694, both version socket and slot and I tried MSI, but I don't like em, for Gigabyte it's not really that fast and there is no tweaking for overclock, MSI have the option but performance poor.
I have to say you can go wrong with VH6, I am really happy with this board.
