Abit SA6R with 5 bad capacitors. What should i do?

My SA6R has four caps with yellow/brown residue on the tops, and a 5th is as round as a basketball on top when the others are flat. From discussing this on alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.abit. i have been told that this is likely causing the instability on my system.. ie system crashes.. failure to POST. Will Abit replace this? Has anyone had experienc like this one? Any help that can get me going in the right direction would be great.

It sounds like the capacitors were installed backward. If so, this is definitely a manufacturing error, and they should replace your card.

Good luck. 🙂

Unless you feel like you can't live without the board for a month or so, you can email rma@abit-usa.com and get an RMA form, send it in. If you can't RMA, you could try a local TV repair/electronics shop and have them replace with similar capacitors (perhaps at slightly higher voltages). I'm still waiting on my abit RMA (sent in two weeks ago...)
