Abit + nFORCE?

doesw abit make a board w/a nforce 415-d chip set? I know Asus makes one I like, but no Softmenu......thanks!

Just be aware that the nForce chipset won't let you use any AGP voltages higher than 1.5v, meaning no geForce 4 (ironic, ain't it?)

Um, I'm using an Asus A7N266E (nForce 420D) with a GeForce 4 4400.

CrazySaint, guess you are wrong about a ti4400 not working. maybe it just happen to be a bad card.

Sorry about the incorrect info. I currently have neither a nForce board a gF4 card, but I was enquiring about nForce boards a computer shop the other day and was informed that gF4 cards won't work on nForce boards, so I relayed the bad info I got from them here. I had been planning on getting the very board mentioned in the thread (Abit NV7-133R) but had changed my mind based on that info. But I've thought about it some more, and even though the Abit board looks good (especially the sound), I'm still probably going to get a Gigabyte or Asus KT333 board, instead.

some of agp2x and old voodoo card are all that i know using 3.3V instead of 1.5V

heh, 'cuz the AnandTech forum never mentioned anything about it until I made my post in this thread 🙂 'course, maybe I should have taken lack of mention as a clue 😱

the reason the computer shop said the nforce and gf4 wont work ... is this:

alot of the nforce boards are slightly out of spec on component placing, and the gf4 is a long board with alot of large capacitors.

on some of the gf4 board you have to "bend" a capacitor a little bit for the card to fit.

2x agp is 3.3v, 4x agp is 1.5 ... nforce only supports 4x agp.
