I used canned air to clean my system last week when I installed a new video card. So I was surfing the web last night and heard the thermal alarm and then the system shut off. Pulled the case side off and found the chipset fan isn't turning at all and the heat sink fan is slow, maybe 1000rpm max compared to 3000rpm from what I remember. Both are resistant to turn so it?s not a board issue. What type of Northbridge heat sink is this and where can I get another one at? I know where you can buy them but I want one that can snap in without modding or piecing together to make it work. Prefer online and this doesn't have to be a direct factory replacement. I don't over clock so something extreme isn't needed. Thanks!

Also would like a 60mm fan to replace the one on my heatsink since the metal part is pretty nice and I prefer not to remove it if all possible. Its the thin style, unknown mm. (I might go SVC.com for this if they still are pretty decent)

I had the same problem with my NF-7 northbridge fan dying on me. I found a replacement chipset fan at CompUSA made by Vantech. Looks almost exactly like the Abit fan but it was red and fits right on the board. I believe it was around 10-12 bucks. You can get a replacement fan from Abit for 11 bucks shipped but it will most likely eventually suffer the same fate. All of Abits replacement parts are 5 bucks with 6 bucks shipping.

If there are any computer stores around you you can take the fan in and compare it to what they have on the racks. Most comp stores now carry several types of fans in their inventory.

Here's some links for NB cooling solutions I've kept in my nf7 folder.
Linky 1 This one was pretty popular back when everybody was using the nf7.

(NM, re-read and you're not OCing)Here's another, although it's a bit more expensive and is for OCing Linky 2

I'd prolly be inclined to go with a passive solution unless you're bumping voltage to the NB for OCing.

Possible tip for installation- IIRC the NB fan is help in place by a couple of white plastic pins. You can either pull the mobo or (if you don't wanna remove the mobo) clip the heads of the pins and puch on through the mobo. Then drop the new pins in.

Have you tried just putting a drop of light oil on the fans to see if they will "return to life" ?

Don't have anything for the CPU HS fan.
