After the epox bios flash fiasco, I had to run to the local microcenter to buy a new board, ABIT s2g and put on my old cpu, a xp 2100 tbred. It won't post. So I went back to store, bought a new sempron 2400+. Still no luck.

So here is what I have done.

I took everything apart, put the mobo on my desk on top of a bath towel. :D
1) Cleared cmos, took out battery.
2) plug in main power 20pin, and aux 2X2 pin from a 450w generic psu (also tried a 300w antec psu)
3) plug in 1X 512mb corsair value select pc3200 2.5cas ram in DIMM3.
4) plug in a pci mx440 (also tried 9800 pro)
5) plug in IDE1 with a 20gb fireball (also tried 80gb maxtor)
6) connect power to the harddrive.
7) plug in front panel power pin into the mobo, and speaker.

Turn on the psu power, LED1 is on. Press the Power button on case, LED2 is on. CPU fan is running, I heard harddrive started, then nothing happened after that.

I disconnected IDE1, then put in FDC and a floppy, no use. So in order, I took out the following one by one, and try boot.
1) fdc
2) mx440
3) ram

nothing happened. I assume that the computer would beep when it failed to find any ram or vid, it didn't.

I also took the cpu out and looked at it. The thermo paste didn't melt at all. Does this mean that I got a bad CPU, AGAIN? ... Interesting ...

Need help on this please. :(

Wow! wow!!!!! I think I found the answer here!
http://www.abit-usa.com/produc...1&model=205&faq_id=638

So it seems to me the true story is this:
1) In early 2004, ABIT printed a million copies of user manual for all NF7 series including S2G.
2) Later last year, they decided to change the design of CCMOS jumper, move it one inch to the left, and REVERSE THE DIRECTION BY 180 DEGREE. After that, every normal person will put the CCMOS jumper on Clear position as instructed by manual.
3) ABIT decided to use the old manual.
4) S2G shipped on 8/2/2004.
5) They may have received thousands complaint, so they updated FAQ online on 9/23/2004. If you look at the URL above, you will understand why I am so pissed.
6) They decided to continue using the old manual.
7) On 1/18/2004, FOUR AND HALF MONTHS later, they shipped six boxes to microcenter near me.
8) I took a copy and went home, spent 10 hours trying to figure out what is wrong.

Now I know. I still need to keep this s2g since I need to set up my computer asap. But from today on, NO ABIT WILL ENTER MY DOOR. NEVER.

If you look at the two pictures in the URL, the top one is what is printed in the manual under S2G. (the lower one is not in manual) From left to right, first pin and second pin are "normal", second and third pin are "Clear CMOS". Jumper should be on first and second.

The lower picture is the actual mobo. From left to right, the first and second pin are "Clear CMOS", I have jumper in that position for all my boot attempts yesterday.

I need to run back home at lunch time to retest, hopefully I could boot it up. Of course, I just noticed the other thread in this forum talking about compatiblility of Corsair Value Select with S2g, the exact mem I have. This is the first time I heard corsair has a compatibility problem.

Went back home at lunch time, put the cmos jumper on 1&2, it works.

So it comes down to a cost issue. ABIT could have spent A PENNY printing a notice "Please don't use the outdated manual and outdated jumper setting instruction, they are wrong, please put CMOS jumper on 1&2."

Instead they decided to save the penny and cost me 10 hours. This is just hilarious.

I had this same problem with a MSI KT4 Ultra. Manual had the cmos jumper in the wrong position.
