i'm getting that "cmos checksum error" in the BIOS post.

I'm guessed that the battery is dead, but i changed it to a new battery.
Next i'm guessing that the ps/2 port is dead. Will having a ubs keyboard bypass this?

good luck.

already cleared the cmos a hundred times...changed the battery THREE times already :(

and it's reading my chip spead incorrectly. XP2400 = 2.0 Ghz, not 1.2 Ghz as it's showing at post.

It says "press f1 to continue or DEL to enter bios" after the error message.

but, keyboard does not respond....so i'm guessing the ps/2 port shorted out or something. Before I shell out another 10-20 bucks on a usb keyboard, will a usb keyboard be able to bypass this hurdle?

You'll need USB keyboard support provided by the motherboard. You'll need to check its manual or listing on the companie's website to see if it does.

I have struggled with my Abit mobo for a while now..
I found that cmos error came up when it first turned on and after I cleared the cmos. "Fix" is very simple, just hit your delete key to go to setup and do something like change the time and date in the setup, reboot. SHould work then.
