Specs:
AMD 64 3200+ 1mb cache
Abit KV8-MAX3 (used mother board, got it from my friend)
Kingstone 512 MB PC3200 ECC
Hitachi 160 GB P-ATA

Nothing showed up on the screen after the first boot up. So I changed the graphic card but nothing showed up. Then I tried to clear the CMOS (remove battery, move jumper to 2-3, 1 min, put battery back, remove jumper, put jumper to 1-2 (default). Reboot the system and nothing shows up :(

The POST CODE for the mb is always 9.0. which means "Complete uGuru initial process AWARD BIOS take over booting job" (from the manual)

hm, do you know that the board was working when it was given to you? maybe he just gave it to you cause it was busted!

do you know the other parts in the system are working? IE powerful enough power supply, etc.. I'd maybe consider trying some NON-ECC memory as well, because I don't know how well that mobo will handle ECC (it's not needed on that board)

I bought it from a close friend and he said it was working, when I got it the CMOS jumper cap was out of place. I think thats why it messed up. Yeah it can handle ECC mem.

Can anyone tell me how to clear CMOS step by step please?
Im not sure if I did it right: (it's already off)
1/ remove ps cord
2/ remove cmos battery
3/ move jumper cap to reset position
4/ wait 5 mins
5/ uncap jumper cap
6/ put cmos battery back
7/ put jumper cap to default position
8/ plug the ps cord and reboot
is that right?
