ABIT KT7A REV 2 BOOT PROBLEMS :(

Ok, this sucks. I just finished installing 2 256MB sticks of Actram 'Tonicom' PC166 SDRAM. For some reason, after I did this, now I can't get my CPU running at 1.33GHz (it is a 1.33 T-Bird) and I cannot boot! I've tried clearing CCMOS1, that lets it boot but only at 100x10, if I try to change ANYTHING, or just exit BIOS, it won't reboot. I think I screwed with a jumper (besides CCMOS1) that I shouldn't have. The first jumper I found (which wasn't CCMOS1) I did something to, and I don't know what. The manual doesn't show the proper pins to be shorted. The first one in the area is 'JP1', then there is 'SMB1' and 'SMB2'. Anyone with KT7A could look at their jumpers and tell me which are shorted on each? This is getting real frustrating. 🙁

Where exactly is the one that you shorted out? im looking at the manual and the jp1 is the only one that can be shorted out in the general area. I have a kt7a-r also and all three that are on that side of the board (the ENSTR1-enable suspend to ram, the CCMOS1- clears the cmos, and the JP1-not sure what it does) are set to the far right, meaning that the jumper thingie is set to farthest right two pins, farthest from the pci slots and closer to the ide headers.

Hope this helps

Thanks, I've got the jumpers in those positions.

Now, this is extremely weird. Now my rear 80mm case fan isn't running, nor my PS fan, and the system is booting at 124x10 = 1240, even though I've got it set at 133x10 in the BIOS! WTF is up with this?

is your heatsink fan running? better make sure. Im sorry that i dont have any ideas about that one. i guess check to see if the connectors that you made on the tbird to unlock it are all the way.... some people have not done a couple accidentally and only been able to get certain multipliers. Sorry i cant help you more

yeah, swiftech mc462-a is running OK. just the rear case fan and PS fan (at least one of them) isn't. this is getting really frustrating.

the chip is a 1.33GHz AXIA factory unlocked. I can't even get it to run at 133x10 - default speed.
