Would it be wise to update my bios? I have a vague impression of someone saying don't update your bios unless you have problems. Well, I do. My mobo on occassions makes me replug my generic memory.

Did anyone have similar problems remedied by updating the bios? Is it generally safe to update bios? Any adverse side effects that I may meet?

It is generally very safe to update your BIOS as long as you follow the directions and do it properly. I have had need to update the BIOSs on my machines several times and they are running great. The side effect people run into is that they ruin their BIOS and then the mobo is shot. Some of the new mobos have devices for helping if this happens, but if you do things right it shouldn't be a problem.
