Okay, my computer freezes up and reboots frequently and I've been trying to figure out the problem for a while. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to the motherboard though. I have tried many different kinds of RAM, including a new stick of PC133 256mb which I just received today. I am going to troubleshoot some more but if it turns out to be the board what should I get? I have an 850MHz Duron. Thanks.

I had great service from the Kt7A Raid... does it do this with all your PCI cards removed? Im running all SCSI though so that may have some bearing on the situation for me

There have been alot of reports of Crucial Memmory not running on the KT7A boards, I would highly recommend Mushkin Ram for the Abit Boards.
I have the Abit KT7 Raid board and it was fussy with my pc 150 ram, just as you imply, I bought the Mushkin and alls well.

Try this amd patch and see if that doesn't clear up any problems.. I migrated from k7ta to Iwill kk266, and with that patch I am 99.9% stable in win2k.. and much happier :)

is it possible that you are running a non recommended AMD PSU

My friend was having problems withe PCIs slots and multiple boot freezes.

It could be the PS, memory, many things. You have to try many things like mastertech said remove the PCI cards, go testing to find out whats the problem. If its one of your cards, memory, ps, etc. Or if its the board.

I saw this on the front page of the SocketA.com website and thought it may relate to your problem.

VIA Northbridge Bug-Chris Tom 10:49 a.m. CST
Christian was the first to let me know about this Chiponline report about a VIA Northbridge bug. According to the report KT133A boards with chipset codes of 1EA0 and 1EA4 can have the bug which causes your computer to restart. 2EA1 revision chipsets seem to be ok. This problem depends on the chipset, not the motherboard manufacturer. We will post more details as we get them.

There is a link to a german site with a couple of pics of the 2 different types of chipset as well. Heres the link:

I'd say dont go out and buy another mobo unless you really cant be bothered trying to fix the Abit, they do make good boards. It seems that the VIA chipsets have been a bit of a hassle for every mobo manufacturer. Good luck.
