abit kt7a boot problems

about once every 4 boots on my abit kt7a I get no post (acts like bios settings are wrong on initial setup of mobo). I will then go in and reconfigure the bios and it will be fine for a few more boots. Every time this happens I have to clear cmos and redo the settings. could it be the mobo battery or a failing bios? anyone have any ideas? My vital specs are:

1.1 Ghz AMD
MSI 32mb AGP video card
256 Mb memory
3-com 10/100 nic
