Abit KT7A Boot Problems....resolved

Just thought I would post an update about the problems I had been having with my system booting up. *Every* single time I tried to boot up it would take multiple attempts, most of the time I would have to unplug the power supply and reboot to successfully boot into windows. I tried everything from ripping out cards to lowering the processor back down to default settings. I had been using the pencil trick to close the L1 bridges. I decided to try and use the loctite defogger method to see if maybe my connections were flaky(this is of course after redoing the pencil tracings 4 or 5 times). I've successfully modded the chip using the defogger repair kit and my boot problem immediately went away. I guess the led may have been out of spec or maybe I wasn't rubbing it on heavy enough. Just an idea for some of you guys to try if you?re having similar problems.

Could you explain more detailedly what I should do.
I have the same problem with booting. If I shut down the whole machine and start from cold, it doesn't get as far as showing anything on the screen, but when I take the power off, and on again then it goes fine...

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I'm just too busy right now that I don't have the time to browse around.

My situation may in fact be different than yours. I started off using the pencil method to close the L1 gaps on my duron. This worked great at first, but eventually (a couple weeks) I started having the boot problems. I went to autozone and bought the loctite rear window defogger repair kit ($5.99). There is enough past in the kit to do countless cpu mods. I used a razor blade and a toothpick and I used the paste to close the L1 gaps. I gave it 10 minutes or so to dry and I stuck it back in the Mb and all has been booting beautifully now for several days. I guess the pencil trick just wasn't working for me, maybe my choice of led was to weak or maybe I wasn't applying enough. I should also mention the above method of closing the L1 gaps was not at all an idea of my own, the method is listed up many sites.
