Abit KT7A + AMD Athlon 1.33 266 FSB

I've had this MB for about a year running it with the Athlon 650 mhz. I recently purchased the 1.33 GHZ, but can only get it to run at 850 MHZ. I flashed the bios to be able to run at 1.4 for this board. I am not too familiar with the SoftMenu III settings. Could someone tell me what works and what will not. I have spent several hours experimenting with different frequency and cpu settings. Help!! I am using Micron SDRAM 133 and the Thermallake Dragon Orb 7200 rpm cooler.

i have the kt7, you should have no trouble with that chip, i think it would be the 266(133) 1.33.
go into soft menue and change the cpu setting to auto, if you can only get 850 it sounds pretty close to 6.5x133.
and some 266 1.33 chips are not multiplier locked so if your bios was set to user define for your old chip this would make sence, let me know what you find

Is possible to have a black market chip? No matter what I do, no matter what combination I try, I only get 850 mhz. I set the multipier and frequency to run at 1 GHZ, it post and boots, but the screen still says 850 mhz.
I looked on the core of the processor and it says 133. A friend at work was telling me that looks like it's a bogus chip. I will run CPUID to verify. Any other suggestions?

this combination should perfectly at 1333...I had mine at 1500. Besides CPUID AMD has their own prgram for this called, surprisingly, amdcpuid. I use it to check each AMD cpu.

I had that board, and can tell you that anything works. Just go into the Softmenu, and tell it what you want, and that is what you get.
