Okay

I posted yesterday regarding the problem i was having with my Soundblaster live card,
and after some good advice from various people.

I have finally had an answer from ABIT's supplier in Hong Kong and they have told me that there does seem to be some problem with the KT7 Board using the PCI Slots 3&5 (thats counting from the AGP slot)and have advised that i use other slots.

Well there we have it, lets see if they are right when i get to play musical boards with my PCI cards.

More to come.

NMT, don't know if this will help, but if you look at the "instability" section of the go.to/kt7faq page it tells you which PCI slots to use to avoid irq conflicts.

I have an AGP video card, then the SBLive in slot 2, a NIC in slot 4 and a modem in slot 5. I'm also using a USB device and have had no problems thus far with conflicts.

The FAQ suggests never sharing an IRQ between the SBLive and a NIC, so don't put them in slots 2 and 3 together, or 4 and 6 together.

The suggestion of the conflict for the SB card came from the HK supplier of the ABIT board, personally i didnt notice any IRQ problem with any of my cards, either during boot up or in device manager. ( I checked a dozen times cos everyone said that was what the problem was.)

In the end im inclined to belive CalvinY's tip where there is a problem with the DOS emulation ie SB16 emulation, diabling it in the device manager did the trick.

Oh one last word on this matter - Creative's technical advice to update my VIA 4-in-1 driver, had absolutly zero effect.
