Had a quick question here i was curious on.

Got ahold of an Abit KT7 Socket A board, then updated the BIOS to the newest one. (7n)

noticed on the readme of the BIOS that it added support for the 1.4G 133 FSB Tbird.

anyone know if this board will run a 1.4G 133 FSB after this BIOS upgrade?
i upgraded it and it does have the 1.4G 133 FSB CPU setting listed.

just wanted to make sure it supported it before i get ahold of one.

just weird it will support the 1.4G at 133 FSB and not any others at 133.

Thanks for any info.

yes it supports that chip, it supported that chip with the native BIOS too I believe (maybe it was just the kt7a)

I think your right.the 4A Bios was the one that had the upgrade to 1.4G 133 FSB.

this one had the older UL BIOS which didn't support it.

thats good to know though.atleast its good upto a 1.4G. :)

If it's a KT7, and not a KT7A (theres a difference) then you can only run 100MHz (200 DDR) fsb chips. So the best you'd get out of a (locked) tbird 1.4 is 1050MHz. If you have a KT7A, you can run it at 1400. Pretty much the only difference between a KT7 and a KT7A is the support of 133MHz fsb..

Ahh i see.

i knew it was supposed to only support 200 FSB,but after the BIOS update the 1.4 133FSB is showing up in the CPU settings.
and it said it supported it with the BIOS Readme file.

just had me curious.

[edit] Just found this on Abits site: "BIOS ID 4A: Support AMD 1.4GHz(133)CPU. (The bios is for both KT7 and KT7A series, but this enhancement is for KT7A/KT7A-RAID series only)[/edit]

Guess that explains it. :)

and yes, this is the Non A version.

Thanks for the info.

the kt7 supports bus adjustments up to 155mhz that means you can run your 1.4ghz tbird at 133X10.5

/edit it supports multilier settings up to 12.5
