Got one for you-the computer works great, as soon as you get it to turn on. Many times it requires a cycle or two of the power switch before it completely boots properly. It is kind of an all or nothing deal. When it does not boot, it beeps funny-one long followed by two short beeps.
Checked all the cards, made sure they were seated nicely. Checked all connections and they all appear intact. Am unsing an Inwin A500 case and the p/s that came with it. Any ideas?
The v/c is a Diamond Viper 770 Ultra (TnT2 Ultra chipset)
Soundblaster PCI 128
64 meg PC 133 Ram (running at 100 for now)
Diamond Modem PCI
Duron 700 with big HSF
Could it be the drivers are bad/old on the Diamond? My buddy (it's his computer) just got it but we still used the drivers off the CD. I went to their website and the latest drivers are from March or something absurd.
Any ideas help!
Cheers
Greg

You may not have enough standby amperage. There are AMD certified power supplies that are tested for power-on sequence, standby amperage and more. The beeps are codes from the M/B and will tell you what system failed if you can find the code translations. I think the power supply's -12vts/blue output should be .8 amps to function correctly. If it boots into safemode every time it's a driver or resource conflict and swapping slots might help.

Anyone know where the code translations are??????? I will try moving the cards to different slots although I am a little more confident in the power supply issue. Those codes would be nice!

EDIT
I just found this site, might be useful to others. I am still thinking we might have a power supply problem as insufficient power would cause the AGP to not function hence the bad video code.
