Screw you A7V!!!!!!!!!!! In BIOS baby with the KT7 and no damn onboard Audio or AMR. Abit knows what side their bread is buttered on ;)

<< Only ABIT has Soft Menu?, and on the KT7, you will find ABIT?s unique SoftMenu? III for AMD processors. The KT7?s SoftMenu? III has special added features and functions that will allow the maximum performance and enhancement tweaks specifically for Athlon based CPUs, such as FSB settings from 100MHz to 183MHz in increments of 1 (84 settings). Moreover, ABIT has added CPU Multiplier Factor Adjustments, allowing the user to choose the proper multiplier factor*. The System BIOS features and supports Award Plug and Play BIOS and Write-Protect Anti-Virus function by AWARD BIOS. >>

They don't know what they want to do...is it in our out, in our out. At least Abit knows what they are gonna do. And no onboard audio Also, the KT7 does the deed in BIOS instead of crappy dipswitches ;)

I think I'll get the Abit board has well, I need a fast cheap upgrade for a system and this looks like it will do nicely.

asus will prob. outperform it and be more stable. But I gonna admit using dipswitches when you could use BIOS is pretty big disadvantage for tweaking

The Asus board will be faster and more stable for sure and also a lot less likely to die.

Also the Promise 100 controller will be a lot better that the crappy high point one the Abit uses.

The A7V will cost more but it till be worth it.

ASUS A7V........bye bye for you!!!!!!

Abit KT7........here I come!!!!!! :D

Abit has always been king overclocking, and they've just proven that again. The KA7 turned out to be one of the best slot A boards ever made, the KT7 should be just as good! :)

I'd still get the A7V. Dipswitches really aren't that much of a pain, you set em once (or thrice...gotta ramp it up till it gets as high as it can without losing stability) and you're set. Plus, the ATA/100 controller is better, the stability will be better, the quality will be better too (you are more likely to get a working board than not ;)).

Plus, a big advantage is that it comes out over a month before the KT7. :p

The RAID variant should be similar to the KA7-100, with both
UDMA66 and UDMA100 controllers.

Dipswitches not that bad? Yeah right. I have been lucky and never had problems with Abit motherboards, and I have had alot. I will go with BIOS over dipswitch manipulation anytime.

Why do you guys diss Abit's quality. I have had a BH6 and have a KA7 now and have never had any quality issues.

They "diss" them because they quality control IS crap. Ask Russ about why he doesn't carry Abit boards and about Abit's new RMA policy. Ask JonnyGURU who has the highest RMA rate (besides PCChips:)). Just because the 2 boards you have haven't had problems, it doesnt necesarilly(sp) hold true for the other thousands of boards Abit makes.

BTW, this isnt anything against you NFS4, its just that people need to look at the overall picture, you cant make a judgement on how good a company is based on just a couple of boards.

Man, this would be a tough choice on which one to get...however, I think I may just go with a total upgrade once the 760 chipset comes out...considering I'll have to buy a new mobo, proc, and memory. It should be well worth it though...DDR, 266 MHz, AGP 4x and it will come from AMD...which should chump the Via chipset pretty hard core.

I'm not a business, so I don't buy motherboards in bulk. Anyway, Abit has been good to me and I see no reason to stray from them now ;)

True but I've gotten my hands on about 6 Abit boards. All off them have had minor problems off one sort or the other.

Take for example two that would not boot at all, and no it wasn't my PWS. One had a bad AGP slot another board secondary IDE channel didn't work well.

With the one I have right now I think the themistor is broken the cpus have an alpha heatsink on them but they always report 45 degrees+ even when the room temperature is a nice 25 degress.
