Any suggestions on where to look for a replacement cooling fan for the chipset on the Abit KT7?
Mine is too noisy to deal with any more. Manufactured by Young Lin Tech Co.
Just curious; what do you mean by "noisy". The noise of the fan (air rushing around) or there's some kind of mechanical noise like grinding or somethhing like that? I have the same board and have no complaints about the fan.
A very high whine which oscillates(sp?) and is getting worse. Took it off to clean it and it doesn't spin freely, but maybe that's normal. IT IS BAD, you would know what I mean if it happens to you.
Use some Artic silver epoxy to sercure the HSF. The fan can be changed out via screws which is nice...you always modify the setup and add a stronger or quiter fan.
Mine got loud after about 2 months of constant use. So I just removed it & never looked back. 🙂 Temps haven't gotten any higher...but I do have 7 other fans in the system..🙂
Fan list..
1-80 mm intake
2-80 mm exaust (close to CPU)
1-60 mm H/S
1-80 mm Power Supply
1-80 mm In case (sends air across video H/s & toward CPU, crossing the Via H/s.)
1-40 mm Tiny lil one that helps keep the 7200RPm drives a tad cooler.
🙂
Current ambient temp 24.3c
Current System Temp 26c (never been over 27C)
