Abit KR7A-133R NOT DETECTING THE SECOND 128MB DDR

Senior member
Hi,

I just installed a stick of Crucial 256MB DDR in DIMM1 on the KR7A-133 and it recognized it fine but it wouldn't recognize my 2nd stick, Crucial 128MB DDR in either DIMM2, DIMM3, or DIMM4 slots.
Do I have a faulty board? Any KR7A users able to have their 2nd or 3rd stick of DDR recognized?

Thanks in advance!

Try putting the 256MB stick on other slots.

Hello there,

Yeah, same thing--it detects the first slot as 128MB but not the 256MB. How strange..looks like I'm going to get an RMA for this.

Thanks for your help!

Yeah you better RMA the mobo man,
though I always believe that singgle stick (or fewer)
works better(thaht's why i never know if my 2nd,3rd,4th
are working or not) but I read a post here somewhere
that he could fill up all four. good for him.
so you better RMA it or if you can live with 1 stick get, 512 mb
and sell the 256 and 128 at ebay or somewhere.

good luck man

peace

Thanks--yeah, definitely..I'm going to switch this board for the Asus A7V266E. I've had enough trouble with Abit boards already.

<< Are your Crucial sticks the Registered/ECC type? Also, try DIMM 4, then 3 I had better luck with my problems going that way. >>

Hi there,

My Crucial DDR SDRAM (256MB and 128MB) are NON-ECC that were used in my Asus A7M266 and Abit KG7-Lite. It appears the KR7A has a problem that maybe a BIOS update may help.

I'll try installing them in DIMM 3 and 4.

Thanks for your help!

I have found out the problem. The reason being is you must insert the DDR SDRAM in the DIMMS VERY firmly in order for the motherboard to recognize it. It appears that the KR7A requires the DDR SDRAM to be inserted completely until the white latches are evenly aligned with the others. I hope you can inform others who may experience the same problem with the KR7A.

I should have caught that, since it was a hot issue(pushing real hard) when KR7A/R first came out. Unfortunately that's not my case, my sticks are recognized ok, they won't run stable at 133mhz. Yep, I push down hard! This problem seems 2B with the KR7A133/R, I'm hoping it's BIOS related...anyhow I'm glad U fixed your problem!
