Abit KN9 SLI does not work with OCZ RAM?

Just purchased a Althon X2 4200+, KN9 SLI, and 2x512MB 4-5-4-15 2.1V OCZ DDR2-800 RAM from newegg, but the ram is really flaky -- one stick boots in slot 2 or 4, but the system doesn't turn on, and doesn't beep if it is in slot 1 or 3. The other stick just beeps as if no memory when in any slot, and I can't get the system on with both sticks in at all either.

I'm guessing it's the RAM's fault since people seem to be having trouble with OCZ in other Socket AM2 boards from Asus and Abit both. One thing I noticed was that the "auto" settings would put the voltage at 1.8v instead of 2.1V, but even manually putting the voltage to 2.1v did not help get the system to boot with both sticks at once. I assume this is a problem with the SPD on the OCZ ram, and not a problem with the Abit KN9 SLI board.

Does anybody recommend a particular type of RAM to use instead when I send this back?

I'm leaning towards the Crucial 4-4-4-12 for $160 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146566
There is also Corsair 4-4-4-12 for $154 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145040
Kingston 4-4-4-12 for $166 or $178 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820134064 / http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820134124
Finally, there is Mushkin 4-4-3-10 for $170 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146106

No, I've only seen 1.0 and 1.2 on any of abit's various country websites. I already sent the OCZ back to newegg too, but I am curious to what it takes to resolve this problem anyway, since my friends will likely want to build a new computer similar to mine for cheap soon. If neither of those OCZ sticks booted at all, which seems possible since only 1 of mine did, I really have to question how I would have flashed the BIOS anyway, not having any other spare DDR2 RAM laying around. I suppose in another month or so the KN9's will be shipping with 1.3 or higher BIOS anyway which fixes this issue maybe. I saw the post at http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22133 which makes me think this problem isn't just on OCZ's side (but I still don't think its entirely Abit's fault if Asus and MSI socket AM2 boards have the same problems).
