abit KN9 SLI and Opteron 1210

Hello everyone.

I know the main difference between and X2 and an Opteron is the cache (2x1MB for Opteron). Sauf that, they are practicaly identical.

I wish to check with you guys if there would be no problem with the motherboard mentioned. I know that there shouldn't be, in theory, but would like to know your opinion.

I will be building a couple of workstations for some clients which use lots of CAD apps and this is what I suggested:

Abit KN9 SLI
Opteron 1210
2GB DDR2 Kingston HyperX
PNY Quadro FX 1400
500GB in RAID 0
DVD+/-RW
card reader
ANTEC Sonata II

They are mainly price concious, and practicaly no-one around here know what Quadro/Opteron is, which is the reason I got their interest. If I'd spent in an nForce pro mobo, price would have gone up considerably.

Please send feedback. I'm kinda new in the Workstation levels and would like to know your suggestins.

I'm pretty sure that combo works but you might want to ask on the abit USA forum just to check.

The 450W Smart Power 2 in the Sonata has a habit of dying early though if not kept cool.

I saw compatibility with the 1210 in a Gigabyte motherboard on their webpage and it had the 570 SLI chipset, too... so I'm pretty sure it will work, too; just wanted to check if anyone had any experience with a similar setup.

Cheers.
