Abit KN8 SLI

I've run across many people telling me the DFI Expert boards will get a better overclock then the KN8 SLI.

If that's true what is causing this, and is there a way for me to mod my bios/board, and keep it safe so I can overclock this better, if in fact the board is the limitation here?
