Abit KA-7 mobo can't detect DVD-ROM IDE.

What should I do?

also is it possible to upgrade bios from Floppy?

Thanks.

The TY Bios is the latest and greatest. Upgrading from a floppy is the ONLY correct way to update a bios.

Format a floppy disk with the system files only box checked.
Copy the expanded Bios files to the floppy.
Boot from floppy and run.

Read the instructions at the Abit site, if they do not make sense or you can not find them then you should not be doing this procedure.

Double check to make sure you plugged the IDE cable in correctly, red stripe faces the power cable, and the power cable to the CD-ROM is plugged in all the way.

And here are some FAQ's.

Make sure you have your ide ports on in the bios so that it will detect the drive. I think it/they are usually set to auto.
