Abit IS7 & P4 2.4C expected idle/load temperatures?

Hi, I'm currently running an Abit IS7 and P4 2.4C and according to Winbond Hardware Doctor my P4 is running at 41C idle. Isn't that a bit high? I'm using stock cooling as well. I was wondering what kind of temperatures you guys are getting using the stock hs/f without overclocking. I am aware that there have been reports of Abit boards reporting slightly higher temperatures, but I don't know how much higher. Thanks!

41c isn't that high...if the system isn't crashing or freezing, you shouldn't worry about it that much.
but if you want to lower the temps, i would recommend an slk-700 and a nice 80mm fan

yeah the readings on the IS7/IC7 are a little bit higher compared to my MSI board.

Same combo, IS7 and 2.4 ghz p4c. With the stock cooler, I was getting around 38c idle and 43c under load. I threw in a Vantec Aeroflow cooler, AS3, and bumped it up to 3.0ghz, and its running 42-43c idle, and 48-49c load.

Ok, now my temperature is reading 50C idle. Is this normal or what? I called intel and they say the temperature is at spec with the standards. But seems sorta high to me. Would you guys recommend investing in some Artic Silver 3? Anyone know any B&M carrying the stuff? Thanks!

I JUST setup my new PC with an IS7 and P4 2.6C - I'm looking at the PC health thing in the bios and it's reading 51C CPU and 33C System temp...

Geez - I got a P4 because I've read how its temps are low even with a stock HSF...

Would it be allright if I took the stock HSF off and put it back on? I read somewhere the pads underneath should only be 'used' once or something.

Yeah, don't do that unless you have a replacement pad or thermal compound at hand. I actually did that, and temperatures ran higher than normal but no damage to my CPU. The Abit's usually have higher temperatures as opposed to the Asus with lower temperature, so give or take a few degrees to get your exact temperature or acquire some external hardware to do it accurately.

Yea, I just perused through some threads in the Intel chipset Abit board and I am seeing similar high CPU temps... I'm going to have to install Windows and run some benchmarks on it to see how high it actually gets.

Also doing a bios flash just in case Abit decided to change how the mobo measures temps.

im got a is7 and a 2.4c @ 3.5 at 1.650 volts and i read on winbond 40c ideal and 48 load
i have a termaltake spark 7+ xaser edition with ac3
