ABIT IS7 Long Beeps what does this mean?

looks like I got a bad stick of geil pc4000 ram, when I put in the stick that works the pc boots up fine when I put the second memory stick (bad stick) in the same slot I get the long beep error, so is it for sure that the one stick is dead? I got it from newegg how would I return it?

yeah i got the same beeps when i tried running my memory over spec on my IS7 as well. luckily my memory isn't dead...i just had to tone down the latencies the higher i clocked it. i really can't think of a possibility other than your memory being dead. it depends on how long you've had the memory, but there is an RMA request link at the top of newegg's homepage. make sure you read the company policies before requesting an RMA b/c different rules sometimes apply to CPUs and memory.

well I called them up to get a rma everything went fine I told I was going to place a new order right away and they gave me free overnight shipping!

also does anyone know why there is like a 2-3 second delay after I press the power button before the pc power ups?

You might want to try the Abit forums too. As far as the delay, that may be built into the bios. Asus had the same thing on some of thier boards.
