Abit IP35 Pro Sound issues

Hi, I just finished putting together my system and I keep getting these weird garbled noises and skips when I'm listening to music or any other sort of sound. I've tried everything from updating the IP35 Pro's BIOS, to uninstalling the HD Audio drivers and reinstalling most recent version off the Realtek site. IP35 Pro uses the Realtek ALC888 Codec.

I'm also still having trouble getting my computer to recognize my 2nd 1GB stick of RAM. I've tried all the different slot combinations (DIMM1+DIMM3/DIMM2+DIMM4) as well as a BIOS update. I've also tested each stick of RAM individually in DIMM1 and the RAM themselves boot up just fine.

Does anyone have any ideas, or does it sound like my motherboard is faulty?

Here are the specs of my PC if they would be helpful:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850
2X1GB Crucial BL2KIT12864AA804 DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 RAM
Abit IP35 Pro
EVGA 640MB Geforce 8800GTS
OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU

its possible the motherboard is faulty. the first board i got had funky vdimm vtt... it reported it less than 1/2 of the vdimm voltage.

i returned it and got a working one that has been good to me
