Abit IP35 Pro ethernet ports stating cable unplugged

Hi,

I am not sure if there is a virus (doubtful, highly doubtful) on my system but last week eth0 went stating cable is unplugged. Port lights on router show dark for the connection. I plugged into eth1 and it lit up ok and I was able to access the internet. Router showed led lit up. Just now eth2 went south while I was installing an updated beta for my DAW software. I tried eth0 again, swapped cables and still it shows as unplugged. When looking at device manager it says it is working properly, assuming it is only looking at the driver.

I'll go and uninstall the software and reboot the system but I find it fishy if that is the case as it isn't anything I'd expect from Ableton.

But I find it rather odd that I'd lose both ports on this motherboard within the past week. I can't ping router, connect to router, etc...from that system. Tried different cable and got same results (I know it works as I've used it in the past). Any ideas? If the board crapped out this is garbage. It hasn't been a year since I purchased it so I'd assume I'd have to RMA it back to ABit if they are still supporting the boards for replacement? I'd rather not take a chance again with this board as I'm extremely unhappy that this happened all in the span of about one week.

Ok, this is really starting to tick me off. I thought there was supposed to be support for the product still? I call their RMA number and now it's saying it's disconnected/no longer in service. Yet calling Abit's California number refers you to this number for RMA's.....I am not happy at all and don't want to waste money on a board that's no longer being supported just to get a replacement......looks like I may be using Acronis Universal Restore should I decide to get a different replacement board and toss this one out the window.....

Alright, I did one thing I hadn't tried, roll back the driver to former version. I had done an update a week or more ago at the most recent from MS for the updates and took the realtek update. Looks like it may have gotten corrupted as now the port it back up and only one (not connected) reports no cable. Strange, never had a driver go corrupted like that (i.e. was working, then all of a sudden craps out while doing nothing - no network activity). Anyways, issue resolved so my system won't be down.

try rolling back drivers. i did the windows auto update for realtek drivers but didnt have a problem. unfortunately abit doesnt sell MB's anymore so i dont know how far RMA will get you.

i wouldnt toss the board out if this was the only problem, pick up some PCI or pci e nig cards since the board is a beast otherwise

Abit went boom. Not sure why you'd expect tech support. The IP35pro is still a great board.

Maybe, just maybe, it's your cable. Do you have a cat? Does this cat like to chew on wires? Other possibilies are an overzealous maid, or a clumsy girlfriend, or even a vindictive girlfriend that thinks you download too much porn. It's the porn, isn't it...

I keep one of these bad boys on hand for this type of probelm. It's also handy since I relaly suck at crimping network cables. I think I get them right about 70% of the time.
