Abit IP35 or MSI P35 Neo2-FR

Alright guys, I have everything else purchased (E6750, 2GB A-Data DDR2-800 4-4-4-12, 8800 GT), I am just trying to decide on the motherboard, I have cut it down to 2 choices:

Abit IP35 - $104 AR, shipped from mwave

MSI P35 Neo2-FR - $98 AR, shipped from clubIT

The "features" differences seem to be that the Abit has firewire, and the MSI has E-SATA, and a better southbridge cooler. The $6 doesnt make that much difference obviously, but it is still a SLIGHT factor. So basically, which is the better board?

Also, I do intend to overclock but not a crazy amount.

Thanks ahead of time everyone.

there's not a lot in it is there?
Basically it comes down to how familiar you are with abit/MSI, how important firewire/eSata is to you & whether you like a black or blue PCB ...

the abit is a well known entity, I'm less familiar with how good/bad the MSI is.

Just put together my system last night and everything is running great so far. I too am not familiar with MSI's offering though they do make a solid product but generally are not as tweak friendly -- particular w/r/t RAM timing adjustments. I also don't like what they do with slot colors (for dual channel, you have to have sticks in 1 green + 1 orange unlike other board makers that coordinate channel colors) but obviously that is a minor issue.

I can vouch for the IP35-E which is substantially the same as IP35. The layout is wonderful, it was incredibly easy to assemble, the instruction booklet is clear and easy to follow (though I didn't need it much), and finally the Bios is straightforward and very intuitive. I say Abit ftw

MSI appears to have better heat pipe and two more rear USB ports. Abit has one additional SATA port and PCI port. I would go with the Abit since I'm more familiar with its cousin IP35-E.

Looks like the MSI board dosen't have SPDIF out either. May not be important to some, but would be a deal breaker for me.

I would expect better quality components and a more stable overclock with an Abit. You are also more likely to see more future BIOS updates with the Abit.

Just ordered the abit, just seems like I will have more support from people if things go wrong. I have been following the IP35-E thread led by serpent for a while now, and although I missed out on the deals, I think the IP35 will be what I need.

Thanks guys.
