I have the following bios settings
fsb @ 488
core voltage @ 1.492
ddr2 voltage @ 2.1v (corsair xms2 ddr2-800 4-4-4-12 dhx)
mem timings @ 5-5-5-15 locked in 1:1
8800gts @ 621/1002

thats all I have set. This ran for 8hrs 18min before a Prime95 failure on core0. It is probably safe to run these settings isn't it?

Antec 900 chassis
Antec 650W TruePower Trio
abit IP35-E
Intel E6750
Scythe SCINF-1000
Corsair XMS2 DHX 2GB kit (4-4-4-12)
Leadtek PX8800GTS TDH Exteme 320MB

Which CPU and MB? I'd run memtest86 test #5 for 50 loops to check RAMs. If okay, then bump up vcore by one notch.

The true test of stability is how the rig perform with your applications. I only run Prime/Orthos Large mode for 1 to 2 hours.

It's probably a good idea to limit Vcore to ~1.45.

in CPU-Z, my core voltage shows 1.424v under load and 1.264v when idle (SpeedStep and C1E enabled).

I personally would not push that chip with 1.49 in BIOS. You'll also need to raise VTT, NB, and SB up one notch above 450MHz FSB.

Yup...run the highest FSB with 1.45-1.46Vcore. Take your VID and increase by 10% if you have a very good CPU cooler.

Never tried 7x multi. I'll try it out later.

Thank you SerpentRoyal for this great topic. I built very fast, cheap and stable pc thanks to all of you here. I decided to stop overclocking at 2880 Mhz (memory@800Mhz) do you think I could overclock some more? CPU-Z shows 1.384 core voltage but my cooler is not even warm, is it OK or should it be hot?

Download Coretemp and check your maximum core temp under Orthos Large mode. You can safely test Orthos up to 70C. I would use 1:1 memory divider.

Coretemp doesn't work (don't know why - blue screen + restart) so I use HWInfo32; but is that all right my cooler is almost cold (heatpipes, too) ? Both cores are 33C at the moment

If you can't run Coretemp 0.95.4, then download Speedfan 4.33. Use the CPU temp. Ignore Core0 and Core1. They may be off by 15C (low).

hello
it seems my cpu temp is same as my cores temp, or only 2 degrees higher .. I guess this is no problem ..

If you're running BIOS 12 or 13beta, it's because abit changed the way it read the CPU temperature. Unknown if it's one of the Tjunctions, an average of the two or what. It's perfectly normal. It's not normal if you're running BIOS 10 or 11. For Speedfan info, check out the IP35-E / IP35 Speedfan Config thread at abit.

Well, got my new HP 1.8V memory today and tried it on my non-functioning IP35-E. no go.

I'll be RMAing this board, and likely will sell the replacement. Going back to Gigabyte or DFI. Also going to return the HX520 PSU. Not likely to try either one again. About ready to crush them both with a sledgehammer. I should have stayed with AMD, I think god is punishing me for leaving them!

Glad this board is working out for so many of you, but, like with a cheating wife/girlfriend...the trust is gone for me.

I figured something must have happened to the MB when you swapped the old Seasonic with the Corsair PSU. Good luck with the next build!

Well, Im up and running. My e6420 is clocked at 2.4G (300*8) right now as this is my first boot after Vid Drivers. I'll add 20 to the FSB at a time. I do have a couple of questions though:

1. What is the theory behind inching up the overclock instead of just popping the FSB upto 400 on the first shot and going up or down from there?

2. What are the best burn in apps beside Prime95?

You don't need to creep up the FSB and Vcore with IP35-E. Dial in the correct Vcore/FSB and board will POST. I you have a good CPU cooler, then you can dial in VID plus 10% for Vcore, and the proper FSB. Chip should do 3.2GHz, so I'd start at that point.

I like to use Prime/Orthos Large mode for one hour, and also S&M 100% heat. Use Memtest86 test #5 for 50 loops to check RAMs.

You should bump VTT, NB, and SB up one notch with FSB above 450MHz.

My E6420 is @ 3.4 (425*8) now running Prime95 on both cores.. My CPU cooler is a Zalman cnps9500. I bumped the voltage to 1.47 CPU and RAM to 2.1V (2x2GB G Skill F2-8000CL5D)

BTW - I tried to go to 450*8 and it wouldn't even post

Just tried it at 435*8 and it wouldnt post... So I dropped to CPU back to 425*8 and the Voltage to 1.45 for now. I'll let it Prime overnight with Large FFTs and see how it goes.

What about the e6550? Since it is a G0 stepping and I have DDR1000 that can handle high FSB. Would it be a better choice to overclock further?

Sorry to keep re-posting but I just realized that CPU-Z has my CPU voltage at 1.392~1.400 when I have it set to 1.45 in BIOS.

Whats up with this?

Also, I never did see a place to change from 2T to 1T in BIOS for RAM timings.

Thanks for the help!!

not sure if what I'm saying is total bs, but I exp the same thing and I think that the voltage you choose in the BIOS is the voltage applied and the one you see in cpu-z is the actual voltage

thanks a lot ,,yes im running 12, my cpu temp is 71C after one hour of orthos large stressing and the cpu speed is 3ghz so maybe i'll leave it as it is :) games won't run any faster at 3,5ghz probably
