I am running Windows XP Pro 64-Bit, not Vista ;)

Should I try to format and reinstall again, and see if the chipset install does the same again?

Now that I deleted the USB Root Hubs and restarted it all works normal, but my worry is that something else may be thrown off. Hate the idea of building on a structure that may have flaws right from the start.....

Any ideas?

Still think you have some driver issues with 64-bit. I don't have any problem with WXP Pro SP1 or SP2 (32-bit). Download the latest chipset driver from Intel. You'll need to wait for others with 64-bit to assist.

I'm going to try one last reformat/reinstall using the lastest Intel chipset installer from Microsoft. If that doesn't work I guess i'll just delete the USB Root Host's like I did, and hope that it all works in the end.

Think if I do a windows update BEFORE installing the Intel Chipset that might be a better idea?

I have the exact same MB and Windows XP Pro 64 bit and never had issues with the drivers. I installed mine right off the CD that came with the MB and never looked back.

Have you tried installing SP2 for windows?

Hey KIAman,
Wacky that mine is giving errors, hmm. I am going to try it again as my reformat is near complete.

SP2? How would I get a copy of SP2? I have an original Windows XP x64 edition and am guessing it is the earlier version. How could I go about getting the SP2 update and install it with the original I have?

That's where I got mine.

Just tried to SlipStream the file from the link you posted and it errored.

Tried a few other methods and am realizing the problem may be that I am trying to build this on an XP Pro 32 bit system.

The error I am getting is:
update.exe is not a valid Win32 Application.

This happened to me too with my IP35-E. You need to make sure you have your Windows XP CD inserted, so XP can update the drivers correctly.

I am XP Pro SP2 x32, but there should be little difference concerning drivers so long you have the proper x64 drivers to install.

So how did you go about getting it to want your windows cd? When I put my flash drive it it acts as if nothing happens at all. The USB listings in the Device manager disappeared too.

I reformatted and reinstalled, but I think I forgot to clear my CMOS. SO I am doing it all over with a full format.

Any tips on how yours recognized it needed the cd will be helpful.

Ok, so I am not going to SlipStream method since my machine is a 32 bit that I am trying to prepare the cd on.

I reinstalled everything and have a completely fresh base running. This is what is going on without anything installed:
1.) The USB ports all work perfectly
2.) The Ethernet still needs its driver
3.) SM Bus controller still needs its driver

I posted this with a few other questions but I think I've found out the issue. When installing the chipset software, I had a flash drive in the USB with the new intel chipset software on it. I forget if I copied it off or ran it from the USB so that is almost definitely what the problem is.

Now that I've reloaded this many times, I have decided to do one more format, and fresh install from step one and take notes. I am almost certain the USB flash drive was the issue so that is a good thing!!! :)

I will be sure to post and tell everyone if that is actually the problem and so someone else can maybe save some headache.

SerpentRoyal, this is DEFINITELY something you should add to your IP35-E Install notes if I confirm that was the issue.

I specifically cautioned against attaching non-essential hardware to the MB when troubleshooting. STRIP THE BOARD. CONNECT ONLY THE MOUSE, KEYBOARD, OPTICAL DRIVE, BOOT HDD, and RAMS. Use a floppy or boot CD if you need to load drivers.
