I have the Abit IC7-G mobo with an intel p4 3.0 ghz processor, when my PC starts up after it detects the drives right after it immediatley goes into a loading raid utility kind of thing. What it does is just tries to load some raid utility and says press ctrl-s or f4 to go into the raid utility and I press them, but it just stalls then after awhile it says primary drive...not located under that secondary drive.....not located then it loads windows. This is costing me a lot of time for startup on my PC. I looked in my bios but couldn't really find anything that seemed it could be triggering the raid utility loadup, is there a way to disable this? Please help thanks.

That is for the silicon image chip. Is that where your drives are? How many do you have & what are they? Did you install the Silicon SATA drivers?

Yes I installed it and it still went into the utility after every startup, actually before I even installed an OS it did the same, I thought it was apart of the mobo, but then again it says intel raid utility so it could be with the chip I bought, I have 2 maxtor HD's 1 is 120gb other is 160gb and DVD Drive and CD-RW Drive. I want to get rid of that utility thing so bad it cuts like almost 30 seconds on startup!

Now I'm confused cause I thought the control-s was to get into the SI raid setup. If your not using the SI chip disable it in device manager and see if it stops and if it does either disable or remove it. There is probably a simpler solution but thats all I can think of right now.

Hmmm I don't think using my OS can disable it because it happens even if I have no OS installed. I think it is apart of the bios. This thing annoys me so much.

If it is the Silicon Image utility and your not using those SATA ports go to onboard PCI Device in the bios and disable serial ata controller.

I'm using serial ata connection to my mobo for both my HD's. I will switch the IDE if it will kill the utility load up and only if the speed isn't decreased, but if it is I'm sticking with the serial ata.

Ok I had to create the problem for myself and I have the solution.

Enter the BIOS and go to Integrated Peripherals and select Onboard PCI Device (if it does not show up you will need to clear the CMOS). Under Serial ATA Controller disable SATA RAID ROM but leave Serial ATA Controller enabled. Save and exit. This should solve the problem.
