Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLI overvolting....HELP !

Hi all,

I recieved my Fatal1ty AN8 SLI yesterday and just today i realised that it is overvoltting like hell !!

P.S. Voltage are set at default in BIOS but for a reason here are the readings:

CPU Voltage is @ 1.42
DDR Voltage @ 2.8
Nforce Voltage @ 1.7

I use BIOS 19 by the way.

PC Specs:
Fatal1ty AN8 SLI
Kingston 2x1GB DDR400 ValueRAM
HEC ACE 480 PSU
AMD 3200+ Venice

Hmm 19 is the newest version... Try an older one, just to see if the problem persists... It will probably be a BIOS bug, BTW the voltage it shows isn't alarmingly high...

Tricky... Look around if this is a common error... If so, Abit will prolly release a BIOS update for it... Your voltages are set to default you say... Does this mean you leave 'em on Auto, or did you enter them yourself?

Both, Auto and manual.
There are many people with this problem.

OK I'm running my system using the following settings now:

Default CPU voltage = 1.425v in uGuru it says 1.46
Default RAM voltage = 2.5v in u Guru it says 2.72
Default nforce voltage = 1.5 in u Gurur it says 1.71

I'm overclocking my 3200+ to 2.4GHz and Prime 95 has been running for 3 hours with no problem.

I'm going to leave prime95 for at least 10 more hours.

Prime95 would better be stable at those voltages... 😛 No, they are in a safe range, but when you say many people have this problem, Abit will surely release a BIOS version that'll solve this...

i feel your pain... i have the same board. same dam problems...
my rig: amd 64 4400+ X2 yes i sprang for the $500 cpu
Pc power and cooling power supply 550Watt
4 ddr kingston hyper x series with timings of 2 2 2 5

i need help to

Lower the DDR voltage in BIOS to 2.5 will make the DDR vooltage @ 2.7 which is the sweet spot for any RAM.
But the problem is the CHipset voltage is @ 1.7 which is a little on the high side.
I keep the Chip HSF spin at highest speed to prevent any overheating on the chip.

i just went thru that issue with my an8 sli fatal1ty about a month ago! there is no fix for it except for an rma. i see you have been to the abit forums, so you've no doubt seen the threads regarding overvolting (mine included). there was one thread where the member took before and after pics of the malfunctioning board and his new working properly board....the overvolting board had different looking caps then the new board and the new board had an extra cap next to the molex connector that is located under the bottom pci slot. that cap was missing from the older, overvolting board.

take a look at your board and see if it has a cap next to that molex connection....if it is missing and you are overvolting on the vdimm, nf4, and hyperthreading.....then i suggest you contact abit and rma that board!

there is no fix for this and you will be pulling your hair out trying to find a stable setting! mine worked fine at stock settings if i knocked the vdimm down to 2.5 (actual reading was 2.7 of course)......but i did not buy this board to run @ stock!!

start the rma!

btw.....my new board runs GREAT, no overvolting at all and stable for nearly a month with my 4200+ @ 2.6!
