:disgust:
I'm having a problem with installing XP on a Abit BE-6 motherboard. I (after a while) realized that the High Point UDMA-66 controller needed a 3rd party driver to work. I managed to get past the first part of the install program, then BSOD error, implicating the High Point UDMA-66 driver. I was using the Win2K driver.
After two calls to MS, they gave up and offered a refund. It took 2 days for Abit to get back to me (High Point never did) and they said that the High Point chipset (and thus all abit mobos that use is, BE6, BE6 II, VP6) are NOT COMPATIBLE with XP. They offered a beta driver, just send an email and maybe we'll send it to you, when we get to it.
Needless to say, I'm pretty upset. I have two systems, both based on this motherboard, and I am now stuck with a dead end OS. I'm mad that the MS compatibility tool didn't even mention this as a possible conflict. I'm really mad that Abit has such poor support (although reading the mobo forum lets me know I'm not alone here). What is the best way to pressure Abit and High Point to get out XP drivers? Or should I just forget about it and get another HD controller?
