abit bx6 rev2.0 + P3 700e slot 1 . . .how high can i go?

ok, so I have an abit bx6 rev 2.0 motherboard and a slot 1 p3 700e . . . how high can i overclock this thing? Anyone with a similar combo, how high could you go?

I use to have an Abit BE6-II non Raid running a P3 550E @ 825MHZ Rock SOlid (150FSB). The fan was Golden Orb (cost me $15). Generic memories, Voodoo3 2000 PCI @ 175MHZ (3000 Model @ 166MHZ), Generic modem @ bestbuy, Tornado 1000 Case w/300 watt (This might be the one that did the trick enabling me to o/c that high.) 3dcool.com

The skys the limit man. Some of the best oc'd 700s on overclockers.com database are using the old bx boards. Wish I hadnt sold mine for $25 with a bad bios chip.

I had a p3 850e fc-pga running at 933, oc to 110, the higher p3 doesn't oc very well.. using PCI video so agp is not the case.. but had 450 @ 600 and 500 @ 666, using 100 secc2 and using 133 fsb to overclock.. had to get some pc133.. the pc100 i had didn't work well, crashed...

If it's a cc0 chip, you should be able to do 933 easily. More if you've got good RAM and your AGP card can tolerate it. My BX6-2 is running a 600@800.

do you think a radeon 32 ddr retail AGP should handle some good OC-ing?
And what do you suggest for ram? I had just figured swapping out my cheapo ram for some pc133 128 ECC sticks from crucial . . .would that do, or should i use better ram?

I think the Radeon should be able to handle it. Yah, get the Crucial CAS2 PC133 memory, but don't spend extra for the ECC modules. It'll actually slow down your memory a little since it does error checking, it's really only for mission critical servers.

BTW mafiapwr, how'd you hit 1ghz with the 700e using a 133 fsb when the multiplier is 7x? Last I checked, 7 * 133 = 931 (933).

The bx6 R2 equipped with the QR bios will allow you to reach 153 fsb, which is 1071 mhz. I don't believe there is a later bios than QR. You can also push vcore voltage a little higher than it initially allows in bios by some tricks that a search here or on Overclockers.com will explain. If there is an earlier bios or tricks that permits higher speeds than 153 fsb, I am unaware of them.
