I have just upgraded my Abit BX6 rev.2 (has latest bios) to a PIII 700 mhz Coppermine in a FC-PGA to slot 1 adaptor (adaptor labeled PC133 slot 1 bridge). I have a dual boot system with Win 98SE and Win 2000., 128mb pc 100 ram, Elsa GeoForce DDR. I have the CPU setup for 700(100) (default) and core voltage to 1.65v (default). When I boot to Win 98 and after the Windows color screen shows up I get the blue screen error message.

A fatal exception OE has occured at 0028:D4772E1B in VXD EMU10K1(01) + 00009C5B. The current application will be terminated.

I get this message a couple of time as windows loads the startup applications. Then if I run IE5, Explorer, or any of several other apps. I get the same message and it kicks me back to the desktop. After 2 or 3 error messages the machine locks up.

Funny thing is Win 2000 seems fine no chrashes runs IE5 fine. CPU tempature never gets above 35 C.

My old CPU was a Celeron 466 in a slot 1 adaptor and was rock solid.

Anyone have any Idea what is wrong, do I have a bad CPU? Memory problem? Video Card problem?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Go and download the latest drivers for your Sound Blaster Live. That will probably fix your problem.

The sound blaster drivers seems to have fixed the problems. Thanks for the help it would have taken me a week to try that.

Thanks,

Mike
