I think that (provided it isn't very unstable) get the new Abit BX133 RAID. No, I don't want an i815 don't bother suggesting it, it offers nothing that I want. My AGP card is good to at least 103Mhz (155FSB), and my RAM is good to somewhere between 144 and 150. I don't care about 587 USB ports, I have a USB mouse, that's it. I don't care about ATA100, ATA66 isn't even worthwhile for now, but I do like 4 IDE channels. I want 1MHz FSB incrmenents or I would get the Asus CUBX, but it has 124,133,140,150 and those jumps are too much.

When will the new Abit (or any FCPGA board with no more than 2-3 Mhz between FSBs) be out? How much will it cost, and is there any word on stability?

I saw only one entry on Price Watch

BX133-RAID udma 100, RAID O,1,0+1, 5PCI/1ISA/1AGP3DIMM, UP TO 4HDD, FCPGA - with cpu- Intel Pentium III 667Mhz FCPGA.

$ 335

A2Z Computers, Inc

330-995-3355

They don't publish a price for the Mobo alone.

Taking into consideration that a P-III 667 sells for about $200.

The Abit BX133 should be around $120-140.

I don't know pricing off hand though.

Doesn't anybody use Gigabyte anymore? I just got a P3-650@865 running stable on a BX2000+ with nothing but a couple of processor fans I put together instead of the single fan that came with it. Great board, no softbios overclocking, but very stable, no voltage increases at all, except for a while when I was running a Geforce DDR and had to up the AGP.

edit: Forgot to mention the support for up to 8 IDE devices, 4 off the promise ata-66 controller and 4 off the other ide controller.

I don't know of any particualar reason to get a gigabyte over another board. They may be good boards, but that doesn't mean that their is a good reason to get one.

An Asus board is about as stable as it gets as well, but they include Softbios etc as a bonus, so for your avarge user, a Gigabyte will be a very good board, but an Asus will be just as good with a few additional bonus features :)
