Man, I'm totally amazed.

I have a couple BM6 boards that I thought I needed to get rid of, and went to Abit's site to see if the latest bios would let them run a PPGA 500 or 533.

Well the last bios update for them was 8-2000 (BM6_TZ.BIN) and says updated for 566 & 600 Celerons.
I thought NO WAY! The 566 & 600's are CIIs, and the BM6 was made for PPGAs.

Needless to say, I had to check it out anyway. (that's the way I am ;))

FOOLED ME! Works like a charm! It even found the right default voltage before the flash from the old bios.

My CII 566 is happily running Klinux & RC5 @ 850Mhz.

The only thing is you can't juice the voltage anymore than 1.70v, but it does have multipliers to 12X.
Makes me wonder how it'll do with a C-mine PIII.

/me thinks I'll get a CII 700 and run it at a gig :D

hehe :) That's not what amazed me.

I got those boards shortly after I opened my shop back in Aug. 1999.
I don't think the CIIs were even out yet, that's what got me. :)

My board is has old has yours. But i was curios to find out when the new c2 came out.sure enough bios updates did the trick. Though I had to wait longer, the BM6 wasfirst.

I've got a few bm6/zm6's, they're great boards. With SoftFSB they've got 140 and 150 MHZ FSB support too. :)

I've mod'ed a zm6 for use with a P3 700, currently at 933, although it will run at 980 if I set all the memory settings to the lowest settings, I've got some PC150 memory on order. :)

Nice one KW :) ,BTW there was a thread in the overclocking section a while ago(month or so?) asking if a PIII could be run on a BM6.The answer was no unless some mods were made to the board. Also any cCo stepping CeleronII's can't be run in the unmodded board either:(

Check it out here

In searching for the above mentioned thread I came across this 1
Abit BM6 & PIII
Looking for other thread............

Found it :) Abit BM6

Wow! ,you've upgraded the ZM's quite abit since you last mentioned them (you kept that quiet;)),didn't they used to have 366's @ 550?.
BTW I selling my cheapo PC133 CL3 RAM & getting some Crucial PC133 CAS2 256Mb RAM ,hopefully I can push my PIII 650 nearer to the 900 area:)

My systems are in continuous flux :) My most recent upgrades have been a C333@500 ==> P3 650@806, a C366@605 ==> P3 700@933, and a P166@208 ==> C366@550.

In the works is a C366@550 ==> C600@900+ and a memory upgrade for the P3 700@933 so I can run it at at least 980, maybe more :)

They are both cB0's, the one at 806 is on an old BH6 1.01, so there is no FSB/4 PCI divider :( that's the limiting factor on that machine. Hard drives just don't like buses that are that far out of spec, even at 124mhz FSB I had to drop access to PIO mode...

Hmmm, this just can't be the Digger/Chris/Computer tech guy that I know....

Hey KW- I tested that other 366 that I never checked for OCing. It does 550 @2.3 volts.

Just when I thought I was going to get one of those BM6 boards, you figure out how to make them fly....

That's OK KW. That 366 was running 550 fine at 2.3 volts for about 12 hours, then it decided to freeze up.
A kid at work asked me to sell it to him to use on an 810 board....SOLD!
