Abit BIOS

I was wondering- do MB manufacturers update the BIOS on the actual boards or do they only issue updated BIOS on the website?

I ask this because my brand-new Abit KG7-RAID was using the 4F BIOS, which would not recognize my Athlon XP1800, defaulted
to a 500MHz setting and only had settings up to 1.4GHz.

Once I flashed to 5W everything was fine, although I still had to manually select XP1800 (the BIOS thought I had a 1500).

i *think* i get what your asking

if enough bios updates come along, manufacturers release a new "revision" of the mobo (i.e. rev 1.01 or 1.02)

depending on when you order one or how many old ones the company has lying around, decides which revision you receive

also, occasionally, the company you buy the mobo from will make sure it's flashed to the newest version
