Abit BH7 motherboard not booting

I have just bought a Abit BH7 motherboard and the P4 2.4 Ghz processor. I tried booting the computer up and the CPU fan comes up fine along but all I get out of the motherboard is a two second beep over and over again.

I can't get anything to come up right on the motherboard. I thought maybe it was a video card issue so I put in another video card and the same thing happens. I then pulled out all the memory and cards and the same thing happens.

For the life of me I can't figure out what is going on. Here is what I have in the computer. ATI 8500 all in wonder, 512 Crucial Memory and a Zalman cpu cooler. I have tried connecting the CPU cooler to both the motherboard and the connecter it came with and I am getting the same thing.

I am thinking of sending this back for an RMA because I am lost at this point. This is the first Intel system I have build in quite a while so I'd like to get it working correctly.

Thanks

If the Zalman has an adjustable or low RPM fan, you will need to take a 3 pin RPM monitoring fan, and plug it into the CPU fan header (Read the manual and make sure it is the CPU fan header) on the BH7. An 80mm case fan with RPM monitoring should do the trick to boot the BH7...

EDIT: Welcome to AnandTech Forums mikehoius... 🙂

Yes the Zalhman does have a variable fan. I tried your suggestion and am getting the same thing just one beep about 2 seconds long.

I've been doing some checking on google and it seems like a couple other people are having the issue also.

I don't know what the deal is. If I can't get it to work before tonight I am going to RMA it back to New Egg.

Let me know if anyone has any other suggestions.

Thanks

Have you tried booting the board outside of the case? How about pressing and holding down the Insert key when powering on?

I've tried both and get the same thing. I've also tried resetting the CMOS. I left the computer off with the jumper in the reset position.

Same result.

Try re-seating all your cards and memory. Pull the plug and clear your cmos and then try again. I doubt it is the board!

I jus bought a bh7 from new egg. i havnt set it up yet but i hop that dosn't happen to me. I never built a computer befor. I hope this goes smooth
