Have just used the Powerleap slotket and Celeron 1.2 Ghz processor unit! Fantastic! Easy! Perfect fit! Even a dummy like me can do it! Went from PII-350 too .. zooooooma! What a pleasure! What performance! Best $149.00 I ever invested. The only thing I had to do was enter the bios settings, put processor speed to " user defined"... then change the multiplyer to 9.5 and wham!...1.2GHZ! Don't be afraid if you really want to upgrade that 1.01 Abit board this is an excellent product. the only drawback is that I could not find an email address for technical service? Maybe there is one, but I coulden't find it. I truly think it is as fast as any of the P4 or Amd's I have tried in the computer stores? I use it mostly For general net and home use with an older ATI all-in-wonder video board and CL2 memory. (No problems)! I was planning a new computer with the AMD 2100 and had decided to upgrade this for the wife? Guess what!

Glad to see the old BH6 crusing along. I have one (kids PC) with a Celeron CuMine 1 GHz @ 1.12 GHz. My only beef with the Powerleap is the Price. $150.

Celeron 1.2 GHz = $75
Abit ST6 = $60
Total = $135

Celeron 1.0A GHz = $60
Abit ST6 = $60
Total - $120.
This will easily overclock to a 133 - 140 FSB for a 1.3 -1.4 GHz setup that will outperform the other setups by quite a bit. The Powerleap is a nice "drop in" upgrade for a slot1 though.

And welcome to Anandtech!

I might have a old bh6 unused.. the problem with upgrading with the powerleap is that I could easily buy a new mobo for that price..

I have spare BH6 too
but I also have 2 spare Celeron 300A
one slot1 and the other socket370
the slot1 can max oc to 450Mhz and the socket370 can do 556Mhz

I have just gathered enuf old parts to build a spare computer from this parts.

My main system, which is the one I'm using to type this message right now, is still based on the Abit BH6. Built it in late 98 IIRC, with a Celeron 300A clocked to 504MHz, and since then I've moved to another continent, upgraded the video card twice, upgraded the CPU twice, doubled the memory, and switched CD-ROM/DVD-ROMs thrice, all the while keeping the motherboard the same. Right now its running a Celeron 566 clocked to 850MHz with 256MB SDRAM, with another 128MB stick coming up soon.

In 2-3 months though I'll probably upgrade it finally to a T-bred system.

Isn't it better to purchase those ECS mb with a Duron cpu thru Fry's or Outpost.com?? Two weeks ago, I purchased a FIC AD11 with a Morgan core Duron 1000 for $69 bucks. I later installed my used t-bird AXIA core 1.0 which I got for $40 and is now running 1.45 gig speed with no problem. I figure a Celeron Tualatin has to run at 1.6 at least to match this kind of speed.

If I had a BH6 with a overclocked 450 Celeron(I sold mine early last year), I can probably sell it for around $30-$35 bucks and make the cheap Fry's upgrade possible with their specials. But of course, I would have to purchase some new DDR memory and possibly a new power supply...
