you might want to make it OFFICIAL? 🙂

I don't get it, isn't 4:5 ratio = 333MHz memory? Don't all PE boards support this?

SCK ~ the Asus P4B533 runs with 2.65 vdimm @ default where as the Abit needs to set 2.7 to get 2.65 vdimm. remember that on the Asus setting 2.7v or higher was useless.
dont you worry ~ ill be trying the latest bios and mod files too 😉
i still haveta put a fan and AS2 on the chipset too 😉

BDawg ~ i think SCK meant to say make the thread official, not the 4:5 ratio 😛

gettin down to the nitty gritty!

160:400 benchmarks are posted ~ i had to raise the vcore another notch, making it 1.58v.
i also had to raise the vdimm to 2.7v.

(Asus 2.6v vdimm = Abit 2.7v vdimm)

160:427 is up next 🙂

LOL...
oh yeah...i meant to make this an OFFICIAL thread for ABIT BE7...not make 4:5 mem ratio official...🙂
hey thugs...you don't have to take out your video card no more...😀

😉...no soldering gun either!
sound like a winner...how does it 'FEEL', compd to the asus?

I hope you don't fall in love with this board as we need to each get one of the GB DCDDR mobo (diff barnds preferably) and review them against one another with our 1.6's that are fairly similar...

Duvie:
i am going out on a limb here.. Tyan is about due for me, (always liked there quality).When the Tyan GB becomes avail, i will test it out for the boys.

it "FEELS" way faster using the 4:5 ratio @ cas222. (currently 160fsb)

nice and snappy, benchmarks are really appreaciating it too 🙂
4:5 ratio cas222 is WAY better then P4B 3:4 thats for sure.

w/o being all scientific, here's how things are going so far in the "P4B vs BE7" race....

133fsb = P4B is faster
150fsb = P4B is faster
155fsb = BE7 is faster
160fsb = BE7 is WAY faster

this is mostly due to cas settings tho.

OK...
we got an Epox tester - Duvie
Tyan tester - Bobbyeyes
Asus? i am sure someone will
Abit? Thugs or maybe me?
Gigabyte? Evan?
Albatron?

during bootup it tells you the FSB/DDR/CPU speed even if its just a reboot ~ no need to check with some stupid software that is probably wrong 😉
Thats a nice feature that Asus lacks. Epox also has FSB/DDR/CPU speed at boot. In addition, you see CPU/Mobo temp, CPU/Chassis/Power Fan RPM, VCore/VDimm/VAGP Voltage.

I'm still holding onto my Epox 845D until GB comes out.

W :Q W

160:427 benchmarks are posted ~ and still @ cas 222 :Q amazing...
this board is fast, damn fast!

165:414 is up next 😀

OH BOY.....🙂🙂🙂

every time i try to get out...
they pull me back in!

Nice results Thugs...
as tempting as you make this mobo , i think ill wait for the Tyan.
If there is some unforseen major delay w/ the GB, then i too will try the BE7

165:414 benchmarks are posted ~ i had to boost the vcore to +15% giving me 1.65v at idle. (as far as she goes)

165:441 is up next 😎

Winbond Hardware Monitor
vcore = 1.65v
vdimm = 2.65v
vio = 3.28v
5v = 5.03v
12v = 11.74v
vtt = 1.31v
vddq = 1.50v
5vsb = 4.99v
vbat = 3.22v

😀

Looks like Abit produced a new jewel for it's old overclocking crown 🙂 I haven't owned an Abit since my venerable KT7 that exceeded all expectations for it even in FSB capability for a KT133 chipset based board, looks Like it may soon be time to remedy that 😉 BTW has anyone else noticed Thugs has the midas touch? I may have to start buying his cast offs in the FS/FT forum 😀

hehe ~ thx DP 🙂
in all fairness ~ it wouldnt run beyond 162fsb til i updated the bios to vBS 😉
the benchmark scores are amazing ~ i left my old P4B533 benchmarks in the dust 6fsb ago!

still running great too ~ 165:441 is comin up later today ~ any bets on cas222? 😉

have i mentioned how much i like this board yet?

still running great too ~ 166:444 is comin up later today ~ any bets on cas222? 😉

lol...hmmm...where did you mention that you like this board??? 😕

444 cas222...hmmm...i really want to say yes...so i will just say yes...crossing fingers and toes 😀

software updates....

WCPUid v3.1 = works
CPUz v1.13 = doesnt completely work
CPUz v1.15 = works
HD Tach v2.52 = doesnt work
HD Tach v2.61 = works (but only if you run "Advanced size check")
SciSoft Sandra v2003.1926 = info is not correct

HD Tach results
13.1ms / 49,2 max / 40,4 avg / 9.0% cpu

🙂

166fsb failed to boot up 🙁

im gonna play around in bios a little then ill get on with the memtest86 cas222 testing.

😀

Thugs,

Great job on the Abit board. Almost makes me want to jump ship when GB and go with the Abit GB. Don't know if I can leave Asus land though. I have had good luck with them. Love my P4PE. So I guess I could be the lone Asus man when GB comes. I am sure I will have one very soon after they come!

Thugs,

I did have a few problems that kept creeping up on me. I need to update my rig again. I am running stable at 2.88 now. I really wanted to get through Prime for a 24 hr period, and I just could not do it. So, I backed her down. Mem scores are really good on these PE boards. They just fly. Hopefully I will be able to get an Asus GB as soon as they come out. But for now, I am content. WOW! I can't believe I said that!
