It didn't really do anything for me at 5X. I ran all the benchmarks again and some were a few points higher, some lower (all within margin of error for sure). I switched it back to Default since I couldn't see a difference in OC'ing either. I'm still not seeing any boot issues, which I'm completely thankful for, but you have to wonder what's up with that since so many people are experiencing it. HTH!
Thanks for the info Doobie, I had wondered about that setting when we were trying to find out the boot problem. There are a lot of people with that problem, but probably only a small percentage are regular forum users (I'm guessing). The rest are probably people that joined a forum just to find a solution to the problem. So the percentage of folks having problems with the board is probably relatively small. But them I'm just guessing (trying to find a logical explanation as to why Abit hasn't provided a solution)....hehe
<shameless recruiting>Gentlemen, the surest cure for your cold boot issues is to crunch SETI or another DC project for TeAm Anandtech 24/7/365 </shameless recruiting>
Any of yours using Nero and Lite-On burner succesfully in WinXP? After upgrading to BE7, Nero seems to stall at the "Lead In" phase when burning. Tried clean install of XP, with and without IAA, etc... Help!
Hey Exec, I'm using a Lite-On 48x12x48 (model LTR-48125W) with Nero 5.5.9.14 in XP Pro (NTFS) and not having any problems. I threw a bunch of MP3's on a disc to test it and didn't experience any problems. Hope you find a fix for your setup soon!
Well that stinks that so many are having probs OC'ing and there's no workaround. I absolutely love mine and it's been problem-free, so I would have suggested it to anyone interested in the PE chipset. Maybe the production quality of the BE7 isn't up to par since it's hit and miss, but I guess we'll never know unless ABIT comes clean.
Hi all, I'm new to all this overclocking stuff, But I'm about to build a system with a P4 2,4B(B0)@x.xx?, Abit BE7, Corsair DDR XMS3200C2 512MB, I'm just waiting for my Alpha PAL8942T + Arctic Silver III . I hope to get this in the end of this week!
But couldn't this cold boot problem have anything to do with that you have different PSU's? Like Doobie have a 430W TruePower PSU and no problems? Remember I'm a total noob in overclocking!
Ive had my BE7 for a few days now. I havent had the cold boot problem, but
when I push the memory a little too far it will not post. Thats to be expected.
A couple of points - the reported temps seem way out. My system temp
is higher than my cpu temp! Another thing is a USB controller that shows
up as a problem in device manager. The 845pe specific usb devices are
there and correct, but this other one wont go away.
