Nice Tates. Are you gonna try to run the mem ratio 1:1 and see how far you can get the CPU? Is it a c1? If so, you should be able to hit 3.0.

Tried it and the highest I can get it to go is 2988MHz (166MHz*18) 😀

BTW, I got this chip from Newegg and is not a C1, it's a B0 packed 10/23/02.

there are plenty of "late" b0 chips overclocking very well 😀 (some better then a C1)

my 2.26b is an 8/13/02 b0 and its a great overclocker 🙂
i maxed out my board and im only using 1.58v :Q

Lowered the DDR settings from 2/2/2/5 to 2/3/2/5.

Alas my stick of Corsair XMS3200C2 isn't as beefy as Thug's or PJ's. Still, as it is warranteed to run 2/3/3/6 at 400MHz, it's still within Corsair spec.
 
i am slowly running cold boot tests.
obviously only once a day so its gonna go slow.
ill see if i can find a pattern.

133fsb 4:5 2522 = boots
140fsb 4:5 2522 = boots
150fsb 4:5 2522 = boots

ill try 155fsb tomorrow 🙂

It has been a while since I have bought an Abit, and I am very happy with this board...see specs below. The only problems that I have starting is after I save changes to the bios and sometimes it wont boot, I power down and back up and its fine.

I was hoping to reach 17k 3dmarks, so I am pretty happy.... but not done tweaking yet
 
Thanks for the link, Tates. It only mentions a fix for the 9700 Pro with a certain power supply, but maybe it will also have an effect on the cold boot/no video issues some are having when OC'ing. I bagged a heckuva deal on a 9700 Pro and just received it today so I'm going to install and test it tonight. I'll update the bios beforehand, push my OC back up and see where it lands me. 😛

i just replaced my BE7 with an old tried and true P4B533 ~ it cold boots upto 170fsb 3:4 453ddr 1.625v so far np! 😛 😉 🙂 😀

I haven't experienced the "cold boot" problems that you and others have reported, so I couldn't tell whether or not the new bios is effective in that area. It seems, though, that I can push my 2.4B B0 stepping P4 a little higher, from 160fsb to 163fsb....😀

Aftre reading this giant thread I decided against ABIT BE7 and opted for the MSI 845PE Max (it was cheap) as an interim solution until the Granite Bay/Springdale chipsets are available commercially and at reasonable prices.
Very nice board but unfortunately the 1.8A Woody can't make it beyond 2600 (same with my P4S333 board which I replaced). Still it is able to run my cheapo Samsung DDR PC2100 at 2930/2930 at 142FSB. So thats good enough for me. No cold boot problems but when I go up to 145/146FSB and do a restart it shuts down and then powers up all by itself. Does the same thing when I enter BIOS and exit at these FSBs only. Really weird - never happened to me before. Well it runs just as fast as my other P4PE anyway.

OK I found it in your profile, 512 MB of Corsair XMS3500C2. I wanna pick up the same stick but at over $200 I may just hold on to my sammy a little longer.
 
Thugs, I know you're off the board now, but did anyone having the cold boot issues ever try this - turning on the monitor after turning on the 'puter? I've been doing it that way for a week and haven't had any issues. Of course, it was only happening about 1 - 2 times per week, so I'll definitely need to wait a few days to see if it's actually helping anything to do it in that order. I'll report back in a week or so...

Edit: well it didn't take a week to find out... when I asked my girlie-girl to try it out, she said she always starts the 'puter first and then turns on the monitor. She had the cold boot issue just yesterday. 🙁 Oh well, P4M 1.7 and GB is just around the corner anyway. 😀

there is no cure for the cold boot problems.

some ppl have swapped out certain parts, but the problem still came back eventually.

my only advice is to sell it 🙁 (to a non-overclocker)
