Abit BE6 and Win 2000 ?

Abit web site does not have the BIOS or drivers for BE6 to run Win 2000. Does anybody know if it would work or what is needed ?
Right now I have 98SE and I'd like to dual boot with Win2000.
Can anybody help ?

You don't need a BIOS upgrade to run a different OS, and the i440BX chipset doesn't need drivers in Win2000.

You're fine as is.

I'm not as confident as Noriaki. I have an Abit BX6, which is also based on the BX chipset. So far, I've been unable to install Windows 2000 with this board.

However, you might have beter luck than I have, since your board is newer than mine.

The deal is that Abit web site says that they are working on a BIOS update for this board to support Win2000.
One of the issues is their on-board ultra ATA 66 controller - which needs a driver or BIOS update to be able to boot Win2000.
That's why I asked if anybody has BE6 (not BE6 II) and Win2000 running.
I think that BE6 II has update for Win2000 already available.

Oooh...shoot sorry...I thought you said BF6 (no onboard ATA66)...yeah the onboard ata66 chip will likely mess things up...

I had a BE6 a while back and ran Win2k no problem (along with QNX, BeOS, Linux, Win9x, and FreeBSD 🙂). I never could get it to BOOT from the ATA66 controller (had to boot from the mobo's default controller), but I could use drives on the ATA66 just fine.
