I tried installing windows 2000 on my abit be6 motherboard, looks like win2k doesn't like the HPT (high point technology) IDE slots, is there a work around for this?? I've tried everything, even installing the drivers when it asks for the 3rd party drivers/raid drivers. any tips???

Akebono,

When you start the install, Windows 2000 gives you the option of installing SCSI drivers (F6 I believe). Hit the correct button and then provide the 2000 drivers from High Point. This will allow Windows 2000 to see the UDMA 66 HD and will allow you to complete the install.

The 98 or 95 drivers will not work. They have to be 2000 drivers.

Akebono,

I have been having trouble with this board ever since I got it (over two years ago). I recently installed Windows 2000 on it and I think it helped me solve my problem. Windows 2000 would continually blue screen complaining about HPT366.sys

I moved my UDMA 66 hard drive onto the regular IDE channel (ie. off of the highpoint controller) and the computer hasn't had a single problem since. I know it is not optimal because (like me) you probably bought the board so you could use your UDMA 66 drives optimally, but it is far better to be stable. Try moving the drive to see if it allows you to install the OS.
