ABIT BD7II Problem

Hopefully someone can offer me some advice here. My girlfriend started up a game and walked away from the computer while it loaded last night and when we came back a few hours later the computer was turned off for no apparent reason. I tried to turn it back on and got nothing other than the CPU fan making a jump like it would spin and then stopping immediately. Attempting to turn it on again lead to no CPU fan jump. I tried to clear the CMOS jumper and no change, pulled the mobo battery and replaced and no change, disconnected the PSU power from the mobo for 5 seconds and replace and the CPU fan jumps again but still no power.

I have disconnected everything except for the CPU, fan, and RAM to cut some of the variables out and it still doesn't budge. What possible problems could there be at this point for me to look for?

If the fan(s) in the power supply do not spin, your power supply may have gone south, or there is a short in your wiring somewhere. If the power supply fan(s) do spin and only the CPU fan is not spinning, your CPU may have overheated. If you set your BIOS to not start unless the CPU fan is running, the fan may have died, and your computer will not start until you replace the fan.

He's right.. a fan moving like that indicates a short. The power supply is "crowbarring", tripping the internal circuit breaker.

Unplug things one at a time (drives, etc) and see if you can isolate the culprit.

I've unplugged every device, save the processor, CPU fan, and RAM. The CPU fan still starts to spin and immediately stops and there is no sign of movement from the power supply fan. The green LED on the motherboard stays lit still.

Please help, not sure where to start with this problem, unlike normal.

Bump. Any advice on where to start, granted I don't have a spare mobo or processor to test the PSU on. Even though it is powering the mobo (led on mobo lit) does it seem to be the PSU? If so I can purchase one to test that.
