I was slapping my system together this weekend and needed to crab a different PSU so I grabbed the Antec TruePower 430W at
Best Buy

I don't think this PSU is compatible because it has the 6 pin ATX cpu Power adapter instead of the 8-pin (can I take the 6 pin, plug that into the board and plug 2/4 pins of the 4-pin into the board and use that?)

If I need a different PSU, what one do I get for this rig (want to get from Newegg):
Abit AW9d-Max
Intel Core Duo 2 2.4GHZ w/ 4MB L2 Cache
(2) in SLI MODE Gigabyte GeForce 7600GT's
(1) SATA HDD
(2) DVD Burners
2GB OCZ PC2-7200 DDR900 Ram

Thanks!

What you have would probably work but if you payed that much for that Antec you got you ass kicked.

Go with this Seasonic.

Yeah that price was high for that PSU. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103942
I don't know what you mean about the 6-pin connector, but as far as I know that's for certain higher end PCI-E video cards, not the motherboard.
Your PSU has a 4-pin mobo connector and they sell adapters to make that 8-pin.
I'm hoping you had those video cards and didn't buy 2 new for gaming.

Edit:
You say you "want" to get from Newegg so maybe you didn't actually order this stuff yet.
(1) 2 7600GT is a bad idea
(2) You picked a Crossfire board for SLI so you'll need hacked drivers to run that in SLI.

Also, here's an example of the adapter...I just can't find an individual one right now

word of advice never shop at bestbuy unless they seriously have a sale there price for most hardware are extremely overpriced your better off shopping online Like at Newegg etc etc. You will be amazed as to how much money you save :) Even save more on second hand stuff hehehe
