Abit AV8 Voltage Question

Does anyone know how to increase the limit RAM voltage? Right now the max I can get is 2.8 and I am looking at buying some OCZ PC4000 VX Memory and I'm going to need more then that.

Max you can set it without modification is 2.8, and it overvolts to around ~2.85v.

Memory bandwidth and latency don't really have a large impact on performance, so just go with some TCCD sticks (the OCZ Platinum Rev. 2 are good).

I know there's a voltmod for it, but I personally haven't tried it.
 
I have OCZ Plat Rev. 2 PC 3200. I seems to be a bit limiting as far as FSB increase goes. I'm running 218 right now without any crashing with an AMD 64 3200+, but if I up it to 220fsb it crashes. It's my guess that it's the RAM. Am I wrong?
 
You must be doing something wrong...

That RAM should at least be able to do 250MHz...

Did you lower the LDT Multiplier?

Go to Advanced Chipset Features >> LDT Multiplier. Lower it to 4x. When you reach 250MHz and want to push it further, lower it to 2x (3x doesn't work on this board).

Also, set CAS to 2.5.

TCCD can't handle really low write to read, read to write delays (the last four values in the memory settings page). My Ballistix can do 2-2-1-2 (those last four values), but for TCCD, you might want to try 3-3-2-3.
 
ok, well I didn't see a LDT Multiplier...I saw a RAS to CAS set at 2 and a RAS to RAS set at 2, but no LDT.
I'll post what I see in my BIOS.
 
Ok so this is what I have if I let the RAM do its thing. Which one is the LDT?

CAS Latency Time: 2

Row Cycle Time: 11

Row Refresh Cycle Time: 14

RAS to CAS Delay: 2

RAS to RAS Delay: 2

Min RAS Active Time: 5

RAS Precharge Time: 3

Write Recovery Time: 3

Write to Read Delay: 2

Read to Write Delay: 3

DRAM Command Rate: Auto

Burst Length: 4

Bank Interleaving: Enabled
 
LDT isn't on that page...

It's on the page before...

Change DRAM Command Rate to 1T.

I'd change Min RAS Active to 6 ( CAS (2) + RAS to CAS (2) +2)

Try 2.5 - 11 - 14 - 3 - 3 - 8 - 3 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 1T in that order from top to bottom.
 
2.5 for CAS dosn't work at all....and these settings make my comp crash, but the tighter ones work great. 🙁
 
You have to find and lower the LDT. When you go into the BIOS, go to Advanced chipset features. Then go to LDT and PCI Bus Control. Lower the LDT Multiplier to 4x.

Then go back to the previous menu (Advanced Chipset features). Then go to AGP and P2P Control. Disable Fast Writes and AGP 3.0 Calibration.

Make sure the AGP Voltage is set to 1.55v and the NBV to 1.55.
