Well curiosity got the best of me. I removed the northbridge heatsink to find a glob of white crap on there. So I cleaned it off with 99% rubbing alcohol and that got rid of it easily. I slapped some AS3 on there and started speading a layer as thick as paper. Then I put back the heatsink and hooked up everything together. It booted fine and is looking great. Temps for the northbridge are holding at around 43C. I think i'm not going to be messing with my computer any more. Looks like I hit the sweet spot. Oh BTW, I almost damaged a usb header. While I was putting the mobo back in my craptacular case it somehow bent 3 pins on the usb 4 header. I fixed it by making them straight again with pliers. That was ultra scary, I was being super careful. I thought I had hurt my precious. . .
