Abit AN8 Series owners please sound off...opinion/experiences needed from you!

Hi fellow Forum Members,

I just purchased a AN8 SLI from a great Fry's bundle deal. I have read some positive and some negative things about this board. Unfortunately, going over to Abit Forums, they are mostly negative due to the nature of it being a Support Site.

Please share your experiences with me. They could be either good or negative. Also, share any advice on setting up this board. How about overclockability?

I have the AN8 Ultra. I love it so far. Very nice board. The G.Skill 2GBHZ Samsung UCCC chips work great with it.

I have the AN8 Nforce....Never shows correct post code....Clearing CMOS several times a week. Sometime won't boot at all...ready to upgrade

I own the Abit AN8-SLI motherboard and have no complaints. Never had any BSOD's or crashes yet. I have 4*512mb Mushkin Blues running at tight timings at the standard 200mhz. I also have an opteron 146 at 2700mhz at the default voltage running at 300mhz. I reached these modest speeds without pushing the system.
The only problem I see in common with most of the NF4 boards is that they are very picky on memory. So make sure you have matched quality memory from one of the popular name brands and you should be golden.
My only wish is that ABIT would include further options in the bios for memory multipliers and tref. However I have seen allot of people jumping ship from vendor to vendor to hopefully find the perfect board and for me I'm satisfied and have no reason to jump ship.

Lord Gestle: What version board do you have? I just purchased mine and it shows Version 1. Were there any higher versions? I am using Corsair XMS 2 x 512mb.

I don't believe they produced different versions of the AN8-SLI. Only the non-sli models went through revisions. The most noticble being the voltage available for memory.
